KINESCO has taken over all electrical assets and the distribution infrastructure from the erstwhile licensee, M/s. KEPIP at Kakkanad and commenced operation for distribution of electricity at Kakkanad from 01.02.2010. KINESCO’s predecessor, M/s. KEPIP was operating as a licensee at Kakkanad since 2004. The bulk power for Licensee area was through an 110KV double circuit line from KSEBL’s 220KV Brahmapuram Substation. KINESCO continues to draw bulk power through the same 110KV lines. The existing 110KV substation at Kakkanad have 2 Nos. of 12.5 MVA plus1 No. of 20 MVA power transformers which are dedicated for supplying power to Infopark – Phase I and KEPIP. The 11KV power distribution networks with UG cables and Ring Main Units have been envisaged for Infopark – Phase I and KEPIP campus. This system works with better reliability and less interruption. It is also an expandable system.
KINESCO has commenced licensee operations at Kinfra Hi Tech Park with effect from 06.02.2011 after taking over the existing 11 kV system. The power has been brought through an 11 KV UG cable from 11 KV feeder of KSEBL’s 220 KV substation, Kalamassery. The 11KV power distribution networks with UG cables and Ring Main Units have been envisaged for Hi Tech Park.
The licensee operations at KIIT Park, Kanjikode started by KINESCO on 05.08.2016 after erection and commissioning of 22/11 kV substation along with the related distribution networks. The bulk power for the park is through a 22 KV overhead line from KSEBL’s 220KV Kanjikode Substation. The 22 KV substation at KIITP, Kanjikode has 2 Nos. of 3.15 MVA, 22/11KV power transformers which are dedicated for supplying power to the park. The 11KV power distribution networks with UG cables and Ring Main Units have been envisaged for the Park
The licensee operations at KINFRA Mega Food Park, Kozhipara, Kanjikode have started by KINESCO on 11.09.2018 using 22 KV power distribution networks and overhead lines. KINFRA has developed the infrastructure including 22 KV distribution system through overhead lines at Mega Food Park. The power has been brought through a 22 KV covered conductor from KSEBL’s 110 KV substation, Walayar. The 22 KV power distribution networks with overhead lines have been envisaged for Mega Food Park.
KINESCO has been following the prepaid metering system, which was implemented right from 2004-05
On implementing the new system, the real time consumption & balance in the account can be viewed both for KINESCO and the consumer. This would immensely increase the customer satisfaction level and which will again enable the consumer to monitor the consumption pattern & top-up the balance.
The system once implemented would be unique in the industry and which will ultimately benefit the stakeholders.
The electrical power distribution system in KINESCO licensee areas consists of underground cables and Ring Main Units, which marginally reduces the T&D loss, power interruptions and improves the efficiency of the system.
KINESCO has been trying to contain the T&D loss within the approved limit.
